Enterprise Forum wins Public Affairs Award

On Thursday 8 December The Enterprise Forum’s Business Reception at Conservative Party Conference won the Award for “Party Conference Reception of the Year” at the Public Affairs Awards 2016.

The judges said this was clearly a reception which focused on the needs and interests of members, and whose practical support was critical in this resounding success.

Mark Beckett, Executive Director of The Enterprise Forum said: “The Enterprise Forum partnered with 7 business groups & trade organisations for the 2016 Enterprise Forum Business Reception; ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants); British Chambers of Commerce; EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation; Federation of Small Businesses (FSB); ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales); IoD (Institute of Directors); IPSE (The Association of Independent Professionals and the Self Employed). James Sproule, Chief Economist and Director of Policy, Institute of Directors was selected to represent the 7 business groups speaking alongside The Enterprise Forum’s Chairman, Andrew Cumpsty and The Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP.”

“We are delighted to share this award with our members and thank them for supporting the work we do.”

Andrew Cumpsty, Chairman of The Enterprise Forum said: “The Enterprise Forum has held business related events at Conservative Party Conference since 1997 and The Enterprise Forum Business Reception has been a pillar to the Forum’s conference programme since that time.”

“The Enterprise Forum is a not for profit organisation, independent of any political Party and does not take positions on policy. Therefore it lends itself well to providing a truly independent setting for our members where policy can be debated and views exchanged amongst Ministers or MPs, business representatives and other stakeholders. At the Conservative Party Conference 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 The Rt Hon George Osborne MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer was the main guest speaker at The Enterprise Forum’s Business Reception. In 2016, the tradition of the Chancellor of the Exchequer speaking at The Enterprise Forum’s Business Reception was continued with The Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP being our guest speaker.”

“The Enterprise Forum’s Business Reception was a massive success with the Chancellor having the opportunity to address every business sector in the UK and with our partners who were able to put across their joint priorities to Government.”
